Ant nests in the lawn are common on the Sunshine Coast, especially in sandy soil and newly laid turf. You might see small mounds of soil, bare or patchy grass, or ants swarming when you mow or water. Lawns that stay damp through summer are a favourite spot. Nests in the lawn often feed trails that end up inside the house, so treating the yard can help cut down the ants you see indoors as well.

Check any mound before booking. Fire ants have been found in parts of South East Queensland. They build low, dusty mounds with no clear entry hole, often in open lawns. Suspected fire ants must be reported to Biosecurity Queensland on 13 25 23. The crews we book do not treat fire ants, so leave the mound alone and report it.
